ANNOUNCEMENT OF SELECTED SONGS:

Long before we actually began production on The 5th Quarter, I had the idea of creating a website to which emerging singer-songwriters who were interested in being part of the film would submit their material. We all know that there is an endless sea of enormously gifted and skilled talent residing and performing in every corner of every city and town across our country, and I was confident we would receive a healthy number of terrific songs. I remember often discussing the potential of such a website with our associate producer, Joel McDonell.

During production, my assistant, Rob Phelps, a Mac Genius if ever there was one, completely designed and constructed the music site which he linked to the film site. In the end, I was simply not prepared for the number and strength of the material submitted. I was both ecstatic and overwhelmed – and humbled by the fact that I know we barely scratched the surface. The selection process proved to be long and arduous – too many great songs for too few available spots. My stomach continues to churn on behalf of some of the artists and songs that I love, but was ultimately unable to include. Their melodies continues to play in my head.

I’d like to officially congratulate the following artists for their incredible contributions to the music of The 5th Quarter:

John Truscelli (“Rain Today”, “Hard To Say Goodbye”, “Never Gonna Let You Down”), Lorraine Maher (“Drowning Song”), Scott Thomas Laughridge (“Hold Onto Love”), Katy J (“Taken It All Away”), Mama’s Gravy (“Man Of Conviction”, “I Don’t Wanna Know”, “Right At Home”, “Mind On Your Music”), Kim Curley Band (“Passerby”), Black Mercies (“Less Than Zero”), SupaPhat (“Something More”) and John Carta and Luis Ollart (“How Do I Know”).

These gifted artists join Stacy Earl and Andy Mendelsen (“Live And Breathe”, “Refuge”, “When It Came To Losing You”), Whitton (“Apple Tree”), and Trenna Barnes and Cowboy Crush (“Reach Out Your Hand”) in creating one of the finest movie soundtracks that I have ever heard.

I thank and congratulate you all, I warmly welcome you to The 5th Quarter family.
